On 4th June, 1992, the Kazakhstan flag was accepted aand replaced the Kazakh SSR flag.
The colours used on the flag are blue and gold. The pattern on the left hand side symbolises the cultural traditions and art of the peopple of Kazakhstan. The blue background symbolises the variety of Turkic people that are in today's population. To these people, the blue is of religious significance symbolsing Gök-Tanry, the God of the sky "the eternal wide blue sky", which in turn symbolises freedom. |
