| Notes: |
On 21st January, 1919, the current flag of Italy was accepted. It has three, equal in size, vertical stripes in the colours of green, red and white.
The original design was by Napoleon, and it is believed that green was his favourite colour.
Red and white were the colours that the Cispadane Republic chose, and the green was the Lombard legion's uniform colour so this is what Italians belive to be the reasons behind the colours on their flag.
