On 9th February, 1948, the current Guamanian flag was adopted. It consists of the classic U.S. colours, these being red and blue. These colours are used because Guam is U.S. territory.

In the middle of the flag is a the Guamian coat of arms - an ellipse containing the word GUAM in red, a beach and a palm tree with a boat in the Pacific Ocean on the horizon.
