The national flag of Finland, also known as Siniristilippu meaning The Blue Cross Flag, has a blue Nordic cross which sybolizes the sky and lakes. It is also said to repesent truth, loyalty, vigilance, justice and perseverance. The white background symbolizes snow, the white Finnish summer nights, peace and honesty.
The flag dates from the begining of the 20th century and is modelled on the Dannebrog (The Danish Flag). |
