Officially used since 1977 the Djibouti national flag consists of a blue horizontal band over a green band with a white wedge containing a red star on the hoist side.
The colours symbolize peace, sky and earth. The green and the blue colours have since been interpretted as representing the Afar Muslims and the Isass Muslims.
