The National Flag of the Central African Republic consists of 4 vertical bands - blue(top), white, green, yellow. These are dissected by a vertical red band in the middle centre of the flag. there is also a yellow star in the top left hoist side in the blue horizontal band.
The colours used are a combination of the French Tricolour flag (red white and blue) and the pan-african colours (red, yellow and green). The red strip represents the blood of humanity, and the star the bright light of the future.
The flag was first used on December 1st 1958.
