Consisting of 2 equally sized red (top) and green band with a gold star at it's centre, the flag was first adopted on August 4th 1984.
The red colour symbolizes the blood spilt in the recent revolution, the green represents the fertile lands and the yellow star is the guiding light that took them through the revolution.
