Notes: Brazil's National Flag as we know it was first used on May 11 1942 and was based on a previous flag that came about after the Emperor of Brazil, Dom Pedro II was overthrown and a republic was proclaimed on November 15 1889.

The flag consistes is a deep green colour with a large squashed diamond of yellow containing a blue globe depicting the night sky over Rio de Janeiro the night the Emperor fell.

There is a banner that circumvents the globe proclaiming "ORDEM E PROGRESSO" which is latin and translates to "ORDER AND PROGRESS".
