The Belize National Flag is a royal blue flag with thin red bands decorating the top and bottom borders and a white disc in the centre containing a coat of arms leaning against a mahogany tree, and supported by 2 mahogany traders. This scene is encompassed by a decorative green garland flowing in a clockwise direction.
As the scene strongly suggests, Mahogany trade played a major part in the economics of the country and is so reflected. The red bands were a later edition and represent the United Democratic Party (UDP) whereas the blue represented the People's United Party (PUP).
