| Notes: |
This tricolour flag was adopted on May 22, 1990, the day on which North and South Yemen were unified. The red, white and black stripes were present on the flags of North and South Yemen and are traditional Arab colours found on the flags of Egypt, Syria, and Iraq among others.
According to the official description, the red represents the bloodshed of martyrs and unity, the white for a bright future and black for the dark past. |
