Olympic flags of the Competing Nations

flag

Country: Timor (East) Abbreviation: TIM
Notes:

This flag was adopted in 2002 and is comprised of two isosceles triangles with overlapping bases at the hoist. The first triangle is yellow and stretches the height of the flag. Upon the yellow triangle sits a slightly smaller black triangle and upon this is a white star with one of its ends turned towards the upper right side of the flag. The remainder of the flag is red.

According to the Constitution, the yellow represents the traces of colonialism in the country’s history. The black represents the obscurantism that needs to be overcome. The red colour symbolizes the struggle for national liberation and the star for the light that guides and for peace.
