Officially adopted on November 8, 1977, this flag consists of a thin yellow falling diagonal stripe dissecting the flag into two sections, green and blue. In the blue section there are five white stars, arranged in an x pattern which represent the five main island groups that form the Solomon Islands.

The blue colour represents the surrounding Pacific Ocean, the green stands for the land and the fertility of the nature. The yellow colour symbolizes the sunshine.
