| Notes: |
Adopted on April 27, 1961, after independence was gained from Britain, the flag of Sierra Leone originates from the country’s coat of arms. It consists of three equal sized horizontal stripes. From top to bottom these are green, white and blue.
The green colour represents the country’s natural wealth, its mountains and its agriculture. The white stripe represents justice and unity and the blue stands for the Atlantic Ocean and the harbour of the country’s capital, Freetown. |
