Niger's national flag has been the symbol of West African Republic of Niger since 1959, a year before its independence from France. It uses orange, white and green in its flag, displayed in equal horizontal bars, with an orange circle in the centre.

The upper orange band represents the northern regions of the Sahara Desert, the central white band representing purity and the lower green band being both hope and fertility of land. The orange circle in the centre is said to represent the independence of the country.
