Olympic flags of the Competing Nations

flag

Country: Nepal Abbreviation: NEP
Notes:

Nepal's national flag is the only flag in the world that is not a quadrilateral. The flag is a combination of two single pennants from separate branches of the previous rulers, (the Rana dynasty). It is crimson red because this was the colour of the rhododendron, the countries national flower. Red is also the sign of victory in war. It has a blue boarder around the red logo to show peace. The crescent on the logo represents the royal house, with the sun denoting the Rana family, who were prime ministers until 1961.

The flag is like most Hindu flags- a pennon. It is belived that, Vishnu had organised Nepali people and givem them the flag which they have today; with the sun and moon emblems on it.
