The Austrian National flag is a very simple horizontal triband flag with 2 red bands sandwiching a white band, was first adopted in 1918, but was adopted again in 1945.
There is mention of a red and white flag being used in Austrian History dating back about 800 years, and was said to symbolize the blood on the white coat of the Duke of Austria after a bloody battle.
