Morocco's national flag is made up of a red field with a green interwoven star in the centre.

Red is used on the flag as it has a considerable historical signficance in the country, as it proclaims the descent of the Royal family. It is also used because this colour was used by the Sherifs of Mecca and the Imans of Yemen. It was only in 1915, that the green star was introduced to the countries flag. However, it could only be shown within the country; as they were still under control by Spain and France. 

When independence was restored in 1956, the interwoven star was included on the National Flag; and it has remained the same since then.
