| Notes: |
The Mexican Flag contains three major colours (green, white and red). It also has the national coat of arms placed in the centre of the flag. These three colours have been adopted by the country since the country's War of Independence with spain.
The current flag design has been used by Mexico since 1968, but the layout has been used by the country since 1821 (when the first national flags were created). The emblem embedded within the flag is that of an Aztect pictogram fo Tenochtitlan (which is now called Mexico City), where their empire began. It is said that Mexico City was built because God told them to do so.
Aztec legend states that they should find their city on the spot where they see an eagle on a cactus, eating a snake. So this is what happened and Mexico City was created.
