| Notes: |
Mauritius' flag has been used since their independence on 12th March 1968. It uses four major colours within the flag these are: green, yellow, blue and red. On 9th January 1968, the flag was listed at the college of Arms in London.
The red within the flag is said to symbolise the stuggle for indepedence, whilst the blue symbolises the Indian Ocean, with yellow symbolising by a new hope for freedom and so for independence. The final section out of the four, is for the colour green which is meant to symbolise the vegetation on the island.
