| Notes: |
The current flag of Libya was adopted on 11 November, 1977, after Libya left the Federation of Arabs. The flag consists of a solid green field with no designs or stripes. It happens to be the only flag in the world with one colour and no design.
Libya was ruled by Italy from 3 October, 1911 to 19 November, 1977.
The green colour is the national colour of Libya as well as the symbol of Islam (Peace). The green colour also represents the current president of Libya (Muammar al Qaddafi), who intended to make Libya an agricultural and wealthy nation with his 'Green Revolution’. |
