| Notes: |
Often referred to as the 'Union Jack', the 'Union Flag combines the three heraldic crosses of England, Scotland,Wales and Ireland.
The flag of St. George (red cross on a white background) was combined with the flag of St. Andrew (white cross on blue background) in the beginning of the 17th Century. Early in the 19th century the Flag of St. Patrick (red cross on white background) was also added after the Act of Union.
The Welsh Dragon is missing not due to the fact that the flag wouldn't fit with the rest as is a popular belief, but in fact that when the original Union Flag was created, Wales was already united with England.
